This directory explains 24 common departments in plain English, from cardiology (the heart, where a normal resting rate is around 72 BPM) to neurology, pulmonology, emergency medicine and anesthesia and critical care.

How to Use This Directory

Each card lists what the specialty covers and links to related guides in our database. In many countries, including Pakistan, the usual first step is a family physician or general practitioner who refers you to a specialist when needed. In urgent situations, go to the emergency department directly.
